New York – AOL (NYSE: AOL) on Thursday said it has renewed and expanded
its search deal with Google (NASD: GOOG), continuing a partnership that began in 2002. Under
the new five-year agreement, Google will continue to provide search services to
AOL’s content network and properties, in exchange for a revenue-sharing
The deal also will be expanded to include mobile search and
"We have tried to make a deal that has 100% alignment on what we
each do best," Tim Armstrong, the CEO of AOL, told the blog All Things D. "At
the end of the day, Google checked all the boxes."
The previous deal
between the companies had been set to expire in December.
