New York – Bookseller Barnes & Noble on Tuesday introduced a new Nook e-book reader device model that is smaller and cheaper than its predecessor.

The $139 Nook sports a 6-inch touchscreen display, weighs 35% less and is 15% thinner than the previous model, the company said.

Barnes & Noble has also lowered the price on its previous Nook models, cutting the price of the Wi-Fi Nook from $149 to $119, while the 3G Nook will now cost $169, down from $199.

The company began taking pre-orders on Tuesday; the new Nook will ship on June 10.
