Los Angeles – Video game rental service GameFly announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Direct2Drive.com, a digital game distribution service, from News Corp.’s (NYSE: NWS) IGN Entertainment.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, although GameFly said that News Corp. will take an “observer seat” on its board.

Direct2Drive currently offers more than 3,000 PC and Mac game titles for purchase and download.

GameFly offers consumers video game rentals through the mail starting at $15.95 per month. IGN also owns AskMen.com and UGO.com.
