San Francisco – Technology news publishing and events company GigaOM said on Wednesday that it has raised $6 million in funding, led by Reed Elsevier Ventures.

Existing investors Alloy Ventures and True Ventures also participated in the round.

Founded in 2006, San Francisco-based GigaOM publishes technology news sites including GigaOM, NewTeeVee and Earth2Tech, which collectively attract 4 million unique monthly visitors.

The company also produced a series of industry conferences, and last year launched GigaOM Pro, an analyst network that covers technology topics.

GigaOM will use the new funds to expand the number of analysts, and enhance the technology platform behind GigaOM Pro, as well as to expand its event to cover new markets and cities.
