WhiteHat Security, the Web security company, today announced $8 million in new capital funding from Investor Growth Capital. The company said the funds will support its global growth strategy.

In particular, WhiteHat Security will open a new regional office in Houston, Texas, which will include what the company has named a Threat Research Center. It also intends to add nearly sixty percent more staff before the end of the year, and to promote use of its products like Sentinel, its SaaS-based, website vulnerability management solution.

“Web security is suddenly top of mind for every CEO in the country – in reality the threat has been growing for years,” said IGC vice president Brian Mulvey. “WhiteHat’s leadership team recognized this early on and has been out in front of the market. The company has shown that their vision for Web security is the only scalable way for companies to manage these threats.”
