Neustar Inc., the company that makes UltraViolet universal media locker possible, announced today that Mark F. Bregman will join the company as chief technology officer effective August 2. He will be based in Neustar’s office in Mountain View, Calif.

Bregman joins Neustar having previously been executive vice president and chief technology officer for Symantec Corp. Before that he was executive vice president, Product Operations at Veritas Corp., which merged with Symantec in 2005, and CEO of AirMedia, an early mobile content marketplace.

Neustar has been seeking the right candidate to fill this position for several months. The company is based in Virginia and supplies network addressing, routing and policy management services to the telecom and Internet industries. The Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem selected Neustar as a key partner to build and operate the UltraViolet technology infrastructure, which will operate as a shared cloud resource for all licensees.

“Joining the company when it is building on its number portability and Internet infrastructure services by creating cloud-based digital rights management systems, rolling out advanced cyber-security services for both the government and private sector, and offering enterprises new data and analytics tools, offers me an opportunity to help drive Neustar’s business success in multiple arenas,” Bregman said in a statement.
