Cupertino, Calif. – Apple plans to unveil its latest iPhone model during an event scheduled for Tuesday morning at its Silicon Valley headquarters. The company sent an invitation to reporters with the heading “Let’s talk iPhone,” along with several screen icons.

The new iPhone 5 is rumored to have several new features, including a voice activation tool that lets users verbally send text messages, make appointments and take notes. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said in a note Tuesday the company “will likely announce a redesigned iPhone 5 with a larger screen and thinner form-factor for $199/$299, and may drop the iPhone 4 to $99, possibly with slightly upgraded components and a new name, iPhone 4S.”

Apple’s first iPhone release in 14 months also will be the first since Tim Cook took over for Steve Jobs as CEO.
