– WOWIO, a distributor of e-books and other digital media content, announced on
Tuesday that it has acquired Web comics community DrunkDuck from Platinum
Studios.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in
2002, DrunkDuck provides free hosting services for webcomic publishers, and
currently hosts some 24,000 comic strips and stories.
Los Angeles-based WOWIO,
which last week acquired social networking site WEvolt, said the deal will
expand its existing library of content, and further broaden its users base of
95,000 community members.
