Berlin – SoundCloud, the provider of a music streaming and
sharing service, is in the process of raising a "significant" new
round of funding, and talking to backers including Index Ventures and Union
Square Ventures, All Things D reported, citing sources.
The Berlin-based,
three-year-old company last raised $3.3 million in 2009.
SoundCloud counts over
a million registered users for its service, which lets artists and fans share
streaming songs and playlists.
The company is reportedly working with Audible
Magic to incorporate audio fingerprinting technology that will help it combat
unauthorized uploads.
