Chicago – Tribune Media Services, the publisher’s
entertainment information database unit, announced on Thursday that it has
acquired CastTV, a video search, index and discovery platform.
Financial terms
of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 2006, San Francisco-based CastTV
has to date raised $3.1 million in venture capital, from Draper Fisher
Jurvetson, Ron Conway, Marc Andreessen and others.
Tribune plans to integrate
CastTV’s service, which counts 4 million monthly unique users, with its own Zap2it.com
entertainment network.
