Basking Ridge, N.J. – Verizon (NYSE: VZ) announced on Friday that it
has sold out of its entire pre-order stock of Apple (NASD: AAPL) iPhone 4s in less than a day. "In
just our first two hours, we had already sold more phones than any first day
launch in our history," said Verizon Wireless president and CEO Dan Mead.
"When you consider these initial orders were placed between the hours of 3
a.m. and 5 a.m., it is an incredible success story."
The company did not
break out a specific sales tally. Verizon added that its 2,000 retail store
locations will open at 7 a.m. on Feb. 10 to begin selling the iPhone 4.
The
Verizon iPhone 4 will also then go on sale at Apple Stores, Best Buy and
select Wal-Mart stores.
