RTG Ventures Inc. and Accenture’s Origin Digital entered a strategic alliance to launch CloudChannel, a new platform for the live entertainment industry to syndicate and monetize streamed video, the companies announced Monday.
CloudChannel’s goal is to unravel the snarl of rights issues involved in digital sales of live entertainment videos, enabling live event rights agreements to be modeled so that record labels, bands, production companies and sponsors can deliver rights-managed, monetized content direct to fans. It can support subscription, pay-per-view, advertising supported and other revenue models.
RTG Ventures has integrated the Odaptor Platform, Origin Digital’s proprietary software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, into CloudChannel to handle video asset management and transcoding as well as live and on demand streaming.
“The Cloud Channel suite is going to be used by the biggest names in global entertainment, so we need to be able to offer world class service right out of the starting gate,” said Dominic Hawes-Fairley, RTG Venture’s CEO and president. “Accenture is one of the most highly respected companies in the world and our strategic alliance with Origin Digital brings enormous power to our offering.”
CloudChannel products include CloudChannel Live!, a turnkey solution for monetizing concerts streamed live to digital devices, and CloudChannel One, a point-to-point streaming service for premium catalog content. Both products are already being marketed to artists, management, record labels, sponsors and festival organizers.
