Visa Canada today launched a new educational game called Money Metropolis, which is designed to teach tweens the basics of a responsible financial life.

The company announced the game during the International Economic Forum of the Americas conference, which is currently underway in Montreal. It’s available in both French and English and covers setting financial goals, earning, saving, and prudent spending.

Money Metropolis is part of Visa Canada’s Practicalmoneyskills.ca, a site that provides consumers, parents, educators and students access to free educational resources like cost calculators, budget templates and more.

Visa Canada unveiled the game in its sponsored introduction to a financial literacy panel discussion among Yves Leterme, Deputy Secretary General, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD); Damian Chan, International Director, Americas, Singapore Economic Development Board; Terry Campbell, President, Canadian Bankers Association (CBA); and moderator Gary Rabbior, President, Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE).

“Visa has created Money Metropolis to make learning about personal finances fun for kids,” said Melissa Cassar, head of Corporate and Public Affairs at Visa Canada. “Our aim is to continue creating educational tools and resources that engage kids, while also providing them with foundational personal finance skills that will benefit them for life.”
