San Francisco
– Placecast, a provider of location-based mobile marketing services, has raised
$3 million in its second round of funding, TechCrunch reported.
Investors
included Quatrex Capital, ONSET Ventures and Voyager Capital.
Founded in 2005,
San Francisco-based Placecast’s ShopAlerts service enables retailers to deliver
marketing text messages or other alerts when customers come into the vicinity
of their stores.
Consumers must opt-in to receive the marketing messages, from
Placecast clients including REI and American Eagle Outfitters.
The company will
use the funds to accelerate deployment of its ShopAlerts service.
