San Francisco
Gawker Media’s Gizmodo gadget blog on Tuesday posted a letter it received
from Apple (NASD: AAPL), asking for a "device" — believed to be a prototype
iPhone 4G left in a bar by an employee — to be returned to the company.

On
Monday, Gizmodo posted photos and details of the device, which Gawker Media
reportedly paid $5,000 for to the person who originally found it in the Bay
Area bar.

The blog noted that the letter from Apple would go towards authenticating
the device as the next-generation iPhone.
