– News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) has acquired a minority stake in Beyond Oblivion, a start-up whose
technology helps to pre-load music on various consumer electronics devices, as
part of the company’s $10 million second round of financing, CNET News.com
reported.
Other investors in the round included Allen & Co.
Sources told
CNET that Beyond Oblivion still has yet to secure licensing deals with music
copyright holders for its services.
News Corp.’s operates the MySpace Music
joint venture with the major record labels, which uses technology from past
technology acquisitions such as Imeem.
