– The Wi-Fi Alliance, a standards group for the wireless technology, announced
on Monday that it has partnered with the Wireless Gigabit Alliance to promote
WiGig, a new technology that promises speeds 10 times faster than current
Wi-Fi. All Things D noted that speed would potentially be fast enough to stream
HD video without the need for HDMI or DisplayPort connections.
