Mountain View, Calif. – Smartphones running Google’s (NASD: GOOG) Android
operating system are now selling at a rate of 200,00 per day, chief executive
Eric Schmidt said at a technology conference this week. That figure is up from
the 100,000 Android devices being sold daily two months ago. Recent reports
from Nielsen and NPD Group found that Android device sales topped iPhone sales
for the first time during the second quarter of 2010.
