Los Angeles – Music streaming service Grooveshark on Monday
said it has settled copyright infringement claims from Merlin, an entity set up
to represent the interests of independent record labels in digital negotiations.
Under the terms, Grooveshark agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to remunerate
Merlin for past users of its members’ songs, and signed a deal to license them
for future uses.
Merlin represents labels including Warp, Rough Trade, Epitaph,
Beggars Group and Merge.
Florida-based Grooveshark has also secured licenses
from EMI, but has yet to reach deals with the other major labels.

“Settles”? Did Merlin sue Grooveshark? I wasn’t under the impression that they had. Can you provide a source for this?
