San Francisco – BitTorrent, the company behind the original
file-sharing software, on Monday launched a new Featured Artists pilot program
that encourages musicians and filmmakers to upload works to the service, with
the best to be spotlighted to users via direct bundles or promotions with
partner torrent sites. The company also introduced two new apps: TEDTalks,
which aggregates talks given at the ideas conference; and Zulu Music, which
lets users discover and download free tracks from licensed downloads service
Jamendo.
