London – Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN) has launched its Amazon MP3 download
store in Japan, Music Week reported, citing McClure’s Asia Music News. At
launch, the store only offers major label tracks from EMI, as "most
Japanese record companies refuse to make their product available digitally
without DRM" — which Amazon MP3 lacks. Single tracks cost about $1.80
each, while digital MP3 albums range in price from $8.45 to $18.11.
