New York – Time Warner Cable’s (NYSE: TWC) recent launch of a "TV
Everywhere" iPad app, which provides subscribers with online access to
certain cable channels to which they subscribe, has prompted cease-and-desist
letters from networks, Business Insider reported, citing an industry source.

Time Warner Cable declined to comment for the story.

The cable provider
launched its iPad app last week, and briefly limited the service’s offering of
30 channels while citing "overwhelming" demand.

Similar TV Everywhere
applications are already offered by Comcast, and are in the works from a
variety of networks and pay-TV providers.
