Tokyo – Sony’s Playstation Vita, their new handheld console introduced earlier this summer, will ship the first week of January 2012 through Amazon.com, reports suggest, according to VentureBeat

Although the company announced the game would be available this holiday season, Venture Beat suspects Sony’s console to still profit well outside of the holiday season because of their smaller price tag — the device will cost $250 for a wi-fi only version and $300 for 3G.

Since the PSP handheld game system debuted in 2004, Sony has sold over 70 million units worldwide.
