Independent mobile advertising network Tapjoy Inc. announced that Peter Dille has joined the company as chief marketing officer. It’s the latest expansion move from a company that also just hired Al Wood as chief financial officer and Larry Berkin as vice president and general manager, Asia-Pacific.
Dille joins Tapjoy having left Sony Computer Entertainment America in March. While there he was senior vice president of marketing and PlayStation Network, making him responsible for operations of the PlayStation Network and for all PlayStation marketing efforts in North America. He previously was with Sony Computer Entertainment America as senior director of product marketing, in which position he was a key part of the PlayStation’s original 1995 launch. In between his two roles at Sony, Dille was with THQ where he served as senior vice president of worldwide marketing.
“Peter’s success with gamers and networked communities, and his dedication to providing the highest quality user experiences, will serve us tremendously as we continue to grow our service offerings, expand into new markets, and build the Tapjoy brand throughout the world,” said Mihir Shah, president and CEO of Tapjoy.
In July, Tapjoy raised $30 million in a round led by J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Rho Ventures, North Bridge Venture Partners, InterWest Partners and D.E. Shaw Ventures, all of which were existing investors. Tapjoy’s turnkey in-app advertising platform and ad marketplace are used by developers including OMGPOP, Moblyng, Craneballs Studios, Game Circus and Spry Fox and reach more than 250 million consumers.
