A creative partnership between Jack White and Gary Oldman is leading the way for an expansion of the American Express Unstaged series from Vevo, YouTube and American Express. Fans already can see some of the genius duo’s project online, in the buildup to tonight’s livestreamed performance by White as directed by Oldman.

Everyone involved has turned it up to 11 for tonight’s debut of the latest series of American Express Unstaged, which averages more than 10 million viewers for each exclusive show by artists like Arcade Fire, John Legend & The Roots, Sugarland, Duran Duran, My Morning Jacket, Coldplay and Mary J. Blige.

Tonight’s event will offer new features and interactivity, like the ability for online viewers to choose among multiple cameras that include Oldman’s director’s cut, a black & white “vintage cam,” and a view from the balcony of the Webster Hall venue. There’s also the White Room, which enables fans to contribute their photos to a digital mosaic and unlock a set of exclusive photos Oldman took of White. Global chat will be available too, as will the option to create private viewing and chat experiences among friends.

Pre-show engagement has already begun. An official teaser trailer and other videos are viewable on Jack White’s Vevo channel (see below for a sampling), and fans are invited to submit questions at American Express Entertainment from which they can vote to decide which one White will answer. Immediately before tonight’s performance fans also can watch a documentary of White and Oldman working together.

Jack White’s American Express Unstaged performance will be rebroadcast for 12 hours following the 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT livestream, after which fans can watch clips of the concert on YouTube, Twitter, and Xbox Live, via the Vevo application.

All of this is in addition to the caliber of the talent. White has nine Grammys for his work as a musician and producer with the White Stripes, Loretta Lynn, the Raconteurs, Jerry Lee Lewis, Wanda Jackson, Stephen Colbert and others. His debut album solo Blunderbuss was released April 24 and is expected to enter the charts at No. 1. Actor and director Oldman is internationally renowned as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter movies, George Smiley in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (for which he received an Oscar nomination), and is about to be seen in The Dark Knight Rises, which opens July 20. His achievements as a director and writer include the critically acclaimed Nil by Mouth.

“I am excited to immerse myself in Jack White’s boundless energy, and can’t wait to help him bring this Unstaged livestream concert experience to life for so many music lovers around the globe,” Gary Oldman purportedly said, according to a press release.
