Capcom subsidiary Beeline Interactive and Peanuts Worldwide today announced a deal that will bring Charles Schultz’ world-famous Peanuts cartoon to the world of social gaming. The freemium mobile game, which is expected to be available this fall, will feature Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, Lucy, Linus and many of the other characters.

Neil Cole, chairman and CEO of Iconix Brand Group, said the as-yet unnamed game was just the first in the company’s campaign to go digital. This initiative will bring Peanuts to new audiences in addition to reaching existing audiences in new ways.

“Partnering with a top tier partner like Capcom’s Beeline on this new virtual social game marks a pivotal step in our strategy to expand Peanuts into the digital arena,” he said. “Going forward, fans can expect more great news on the digital front from Peanuts.”

Peanuts Worldwide is a joint venture owned 80 percent by Iconix Brand Group and 20 percent by members of the Charles M. Schulz family.

Beeline is best known for mobile games like Zombie Cafe, Lil’ Pirates and Smurfs’ Village, three titles that collectively have been downloaded more than 20 million times. Smurfs’ Village has ranked as the number one top-grossing app in 62 countries and consistently ranks as a top-ten grossing app worldwide on Apple’s App store.

“Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters are adored and recognized throughout the world. We’re thrilled to be working with Peanuts Worldwide to bring these cherished characters to smartphones and smart devices,” said Midori Yuasa, president and chief operating officer, Beeline Interactive. “With our success and experience in the smartphone freemium category we’re confident that we can deliver a social game that Peanuts’ fans will love.
