Cupertino, Calif. – Apple (NASD:  AAPL) has invited members of the media
to a "special event" on Sept. 1, with an invite featuring an acoustic
guitar sporting an Apple logo-shaped sound hole, at which it is expected to
introduce new music and perhaps TV-focused products.

Various reports have
suggested that Apple will refresh the iPod touch with dual cameras and FaceTime
video chat, and introduce an upgraded Apple TV device with a complementary
iTunes TV show rental service.

All Things D speculated that Apple will not
launch a cloud-based music streaming service, but will introduce an overhaul to
iTunes centered on social features.

The purported Web-based version of the
iTunes Store would make it easier to share musical tastes with friends via
third-party services like Twitter and Facebook.
