Seoul – Apple’s (NASD: AAPL) iPhone has surpassed 1 million unit sales in
South Korea, around nine months after the device’s launch there, the local
Yonhap News Service reported.

Apple’s mobile network operator partner in Korea,
KT Corp., says it had activated 1.02 million iPhones as of Aug. 16.

The report
cited industry data projecting the number of smartphone users in South Korea is
expected to top 4.8 million this year, up from 500,000 last year.

KT said it
received 350,000 pre-orders for the iPhone 4, which went on sale in Korea on
Sept. 10.

  1. I feel so proud that I’m an iphone user. I just bought an unlocked iphone 4 recently and these types of news validates that I made the right purchase. As for the android phones, seriously 200,000 a day? Kindly give your reference so we can see. That would really help.
