Vancouver-based game developer Iugo Mobile Entertainment has closed an unspecified minority investment from global mobile and gaming company Gree Inc.

Gree’s primary interest is in three of the Canadian company’s proprietary technologies: Iugo Mesh Social Game Engine, Iugo Games Library and IRender 3D Engine. Gree said it will use these to improve the quality and development speed of its social mobile games.

“Both Gree and Iugo are mobile-first game companies, and we share a common vision of where the game industry is heading,” says Hong-Yee Wong, CEO of Iugo Mobile Entertainment. “Mobile gaming is soaring on a global scale, and our partnership will put us at the leading edge of this thrust.”

Gree seems to be shifting into high gear, having recently ramped up its HTML5 capabilities by investing in Wizcorp. It also launched Zombie Jombie and Alien Family, the first two games developed by its San Francisco studio.
